hara donuts

はらドーナッツ hara donuts is made of okara (soy pulp) and soy milk.
As a tofu lover, I don’t miss to taste it when I visited Tokyo last month.
Certainly a must is はらドーナッツ hara donuts, the original flavor,
it is truely soft and sweet and its homemade touch brings a flashback of childhood
memory together with a big smile. However, I fell in love with サトウキビ satoukibi
(sugar cane) as its sweetness is so humble with soft and soft texture.
Unfortunately they are a bit oily for me but still worth to try!

white sweetheart

Cool breeze suddenly visits Bangkok again and
reminds me of 白い恋人shiroi koibito
one of the best souvenirs from land of snow,Hokkaido.
white chocolate sandwiched in langue-de-chat biscuits
brings sweet harmony in the mouth.
Though shiroi koibito was in trouble of mislabeling expired date in 2007,
it backed and still maintained popularity.

Shiroi koibito means white sweetheart,
representing well for both its origin–Sapporo, land of snow
and beloved taste. When tasting once, it is hard to not fall in love
with this white sweetheart.

lovely bakery

I just found out that Opatoca, tiny bakery shop
with lovely fairy tale look exterior

hiding in Harajuku (there is also another shop in Naka Meguro)

already closed (both of them). What a pity!

ice cream in the bread

One of my favorites when I was a kid.
Coconut ice cream and soft bread are the real perfect match.
Topping with some peanuts adds crunchy taste.
Then the whole world is full of smiles.

orange blossom

This french bread from Shinjuku Takano made me truely fascinated at the first bite.
The texture is so soft and tender. Plus sweet and fresh scent from orange peel that scatter around rank in my favorites immediately.

Shinjuku Takano is well known for their speciality in fruit. Their bakery corner also offers yummy stuffs decorated or made of delicious fruit — one of a must is melon pan.

watermelon rice cracker

Summer rice cracker transform into watermelon look with sweet color
but remaining the traditional taste of arare, rice cracker with crispy, crunchy and salty
Black beans that scattering over are the prominent accent lifting up the deliciousness
Another lovely summer souvenir from Tokyo reflecting Japanese’ thoughtfulness and
their bond with season.

*natsu arare from Tomoe ya, Tokyo

momo

momo or peach is a fruit with truely sexy silhouette
and tempting scent plus delightful and sweet taste.
it really looks like baby butt for me.

*momo is in seasonal during July - August
I got this two as souvenir from Japan the other day
– amazing power of sweet scent and taste.

totally flat

1st thought : Oh! How beautiful it is.
2nd thought : Cruel! Seeing dead fish as the beauty.
3rd thought : Poor tiny fish were totally flat.
4th thought : Everything in the world is nothing. Then bought this flattened fish back home to remind myself (with tiny doubt how it will taste.)

金沢パリパリ this kanazawa paripari made of しらすshirasu, tiny fish flattened by high pressure without any flour or seasoning for the real natural taste. Each piece is so thin and fragile. Melting away in a second. Life is so short…

arare, arare and arale

あられ arare means japanese cracker made from glutinous rice
あられ arare means hail from sky
アラレ arale means a lovely android with big glasses from anime series, Dr.Slump

あられ arare, japanese cracker is bite-sized snack.
If they are cut into super tiny size as above photo, they are called chazuke arare, using to create crunchy touch for ochazuke, rice with tea.

*ochazuke - rice with tea is a simple dish for midnight or hangover cure.
easy to cook, easy to eat
not too heavy, not too much for the late night
just made of leftover rice, put anything available in the refrigerator
either pickles, fish, seaweed as you like then pour the hot tea on it.
simply delicious!

waiting

Although this first Krispy Kreme Doughnuts store in Japan opened since December 2006, there is a long line till now.

From morning

to evening

to the night

even raining

Waiting enhances the peace in our mind.
Waiting helps us to revise and refrain (how many pieces to buy?)
Waiting includes respecting the others’rights (who came before us)
Waiting is to increase our patience’s limit (for yummy stuffs)
Sometimes we have to “wait” for something.
