public space

I always love to walk around to admire how public space in various places are designed.
Now public space seems to be in good care. It becomes a space to show creativity rather than be ignored and left empty. One of my favorite public space in Tokyo is on 7th floor at Lumine Est (formerly named MyCity) in Shinjuku.

Super Potato by famous designer, Takashi Sugimoto designed SHUN/KAN 7th-8th floor MyCity (now is Lumine Est) in 2002. Amazing walls were made by wasted materials from the city — wood, paper, plastic, glasses, etc.

Sleepless bookstore

Roppongi becomes the hot spot both night light and daylight
since Roppongi Hills to Tokyo Midtown opened.
Nightlife in Roppongi is not only for drinking, listening music, dancing
but reading!
Tsutaya at Roppongi Hills is the pioneer to open its store
from 7:00am to 4:00am
At the end of last year ABC Aoyama Book Center Roppongi store
changed its store hours to open till 5:00am
(weekdays 10:00-05:00 sunday 10:00-22:00).
What a cool hang out spot!

favorite dish

White boiled shrimp is my childhood favorite dish in Hong Kong.
It may look very simple and simple
but the natural sweetness that burst out like firework
glitters great taste all over the mouth.
Due to the short cooking time and the freshest ingredient,
the natural flavor plays its star role.
So this is a must menu for my trip to Hong Kong.

hong kong

I just went back from Hong Kong.
My first flight when I was 5 years old is Hong Kong.
Since then Hong Kong is our family regular destination.
The wonderland for me at that time was toy stores
where I and my brother could stay all day.
Another big issue for our family is eating Chinese food there.
As a little kids, I did not know where and which restaurants were.
My memory is only one word “yummy”.
However, our Hong Kong visits became less and less, heading to explore the world in other locations. So this trip was like seeing the old friend.

For many people, Hong Kong = shopping.
But for me, Hong Kong = eating Chinese food.
I and my sister ate and ate delicious Chinese food.
There are many changes in Hong Kong — some is so admirable while some is missing.
Main roads and buildings are still the same as my memory files.
Public transportations are so admirable — very easy and convenient.
But some essence of Hong Kong seem to fade away.
People are more friendly, waiters are more generous, which are good things.
However, I missed those careless or bad manners, which always were a spice of Hong Kong trip for me.

kidzania

kidzania-logo.png

kidzania is the edutainment town for kids offering different kinds of working experiences in a realistic city setting. At two-third of the actual size, all facilities are designed to be just the right size for kids.

From pilot, baker, doctor, news reporter, designer to chef, kids will learn to make a living by their choices and get a pay in kidzania currency. Also they can use their earning to buy things at kidzania or learn how to save it in the bank by opening their account at the bank in kidzania and keep them for the next visit. Moreover, the experience in kidzania will enhance kids to develop their independence, social skills.

Kidzania originally born in Mexico in 1999. With its great concept, kidzania now expands to Japan in 2006 and this fall 2007 was opened in Jakarta, Indonesia. In 2008, kidzania will go to Lisbon and Dubai and more in 2009 at Barcelona, Seoul and Taiwan.

I think it is the very interesting theme park that kids will have fun while learning the value of working and who knows they may discover a new side of themselves.
